On 15/4/2012, Hashim Shawa, Chairman and General Manager of Bank of Palestine announced the donation $100,000 for Al Najah University- Nablus, for building the university's' new hospital during a visit to the university. Shawa stated that this sponsorship is part of Bank of Palestine’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and the banks' commitment to support higher education and the health sector in Palestine, and to enrich the labor market with an educated and skilled generation. BoP has been the leader in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Palestine dedicating around 5% of our net profit to CSR. In 2010, BoP’s CSR budget reached around $1.5 million, and covered a vast array of sectors. For higher education alone, BoP dedicated $2 million for "Zamaleh", a program aiming at empowering and training university students in Palestine.With BoP's support, Al Najah University will soon apply the program as the second national university.
