On Friday, 17 November, 2017, Bank of Palestine provided its sponsorship for the Jericho International Marathon entitled “Moon under the Sea,” which was held in the city of Jericho. The event, which was both a sports and social activity, was organized by the Higher Council of Youth and Sports and involved the participation of thousands of runners, youth and Palestinian families from Palestine and abroad.
The Marathon was divided into three parts: the first was the 10 km run; the second was a 5 km race especially for families; and the third was a 21 km bicycle race. The event also featured a motorcycle exhibition and car rally held at the premises of Al Istiqlal University.
The bank’s sponsorship for the “Moon under the Sea” Marathon is part of its belief in the importance of forming partnerships with national organizations to organize sports events and cultural and artistic activities that encourage internal tourism. The marathon is an opportunity for all sectors in Palestinian society, coming from various cities, villages and governorates to meet for a good cause and promote the culture of sports and practicing sports.
It is important to mention that every year, Bank of Palestine designates 6% of its annual profits to corporate social responsibility initiatives in the fields of health, education, culture, arts, sports, women empowerment, human endeavors and other areas of development.
