Bank of Palestine sponsored the friendly game that took place for the first time since years for people with physical disabilities using wheelchairs, between the Basketball teams of the West Bank and Gaza. The game took place at the “Absa” Hall in Ramallah Sports Complex and resulted in the victory of the Northern governorates (West Bank) team over the Southern governorates (Gaza) team, with 25 points against 20 points.
The game was held in Ramallah, under the sponsorship of Gen. Jibril Rajoub, in cooperation with “Khairak La Iben Baladak” institution, in partnership with the Palestinian Paralympic Committee, and in the presence of a range of officials and those interested.
The Bank’s sponsorship to this game is due to its social responsibility and its belief in supporting people with disabilities and sports for people with special needs in Palestine. Such events illustrates their determination towards life and encourages them to persevere and represent a distinctive civilized image of Palestine. The Bank believes in the capabilities and capacities of people with disabilities.
Mr. Thaer Hamayel, Marketing and Public Relations Director at Bank of Palestine, confirmed that Bank’s interest in people with disabilities, as the Bank allocates 6% of its annual net profit to support various development projects, including significant support to sports. Bank of Palestine is also the first Palestinian institution that allows the employment of 6% of its human resources from people with disabilities. He expressed his pride for these capacities between the two teams.
