The Palestine Football Association, present in Al-Ram, held a draw for the Women Football Association President Cup Championship for the present season 2016, which is sponsored by Bank of Palestine; the first match within the championship launched in Majed Asa’d field in Al-Bireh between Sareyett Ramallah team and Isawiya women team; the match ended with 10 goals to the Sareyett team versus no goals from the other team.
Five teams are participating in this championship, which are Sareyett Ramallah, Al-Bireh Institution, Isawiya Club, Diyar Bethlehem, Orthodox Club and Beit Sahour Cultural Club.
Mr. Ahmad Hassan emphasized on the importance of this championship, which will be held on grand fields “field 11”, accordingly, it will be based on Asian Union standards and charts; in addition, this championship is a good preparation to the upcoming General Women Championship League. Hasan indicated that these championship will enhance the players’ experience and contribute in advancing the teams, both technically and physically, which will reflect positively on national women teams in the future.
Mr. Firas Abu Hilal explained some instructions and charts related to this championship, expressing his hope that all participating teams will fully commit to these systems so they can reflect a positive image of Palestinian women’s sports, which witnessed significant development throughout the past years.
Mr. Abu Hilal thanked the management of Bank of Palestine, the sponsor to these championships and to all the activities and women championships of the Football Association, indicating that the Associations’ president, General Jibril Rajoub, provides special attention to the women’s sports and works towards enabling them to compete on the Arab and regional levels.
Mr. Thaer Hamayel, Director of Marketing and Public Relations Department at Bank of Palestine, emphasized that the Bank’s sponsorship to women’s sports is in line with its role to enhance women’s role and advance their performance in all fields on the national level, particularly in sports, in addition to empowering women culturally, socially and economically, due to the Bank’s belief that women have a significant role in making the needed change on the national level.
Mr. Hamayel indicated that throughout the past few years, the Bank developed cultural tools and financial services for Palestinian women. In addition to training programs dedicated to women entrepreneurs, and an awareness Facebook page “Felestineyeh”. According to Mr. Hamayel, these efforts are parallel to the Bank’s sponsorships to women’s sports championships and empowering women sports.
