Bank of Palestine hosted Mr. Saleem Sawalha, Country Manager (Palestine, Jordan and Iraq) at Visa Inc., who provided a number of training workshops related to Visa Cards for the managers of the branches and offices and employees of Cards Department at Bank of Palestine in all governorates.
A crew from the Business and Products Development Department hosted Mr. Sawalha and presented to him the latest developments implemented by the Bank in enhancing the community’s culture in using plastic cards; they discussed methods to develop the services provided the Bank in the field of using cards as part of the banking services provided internationally.
Mr. Sawalha commended the standard reached by the Bank’s provided services; he valued Bank of Palestine’s interest to be the first and only center to issue Visa Cards for more than fifteen years; he indicated that Bank of Palestine reached since then advanced levels in the provided services to the community through plastic cards. Sawalha expressed his admiration for the development of the banking sector in Palestine and the sophisticated services provided by the banks to the Palestinian community.
Mr. Sawalha also visited Bank of Palestine’s Museum located in its Bethlehem branch building, which recaps 400 years of Palestinian heritage and history in the fields of arts and social life, as the Bank’s Museum contains antique pieces, some with an estimated age of 400 hundred years, including paintings and icons of the most prominent Palestinian religious and historic monuments, which was collected by the Bank’s art advisor, Mr. George Al-A’ma.
Bank of Palestine owns the first and only center to issue and accept credit and debit cards in Palestine since 1999; the Bank continued with its development journey by enhancing the culture of using plastic banking cards instead of cash; the Bank also takes credit in introducing electronic points of sales in Palestine and the service for accepting credit cards; it was able to introduce this new culture of using plastic cards to the community by distributing more than 6000 electronic points of sales that accept Visa, MasterCard and other various cards in the transactions of selling products, goods and services and paying bills, in addition to payment of tuition for students of Birzeit University.
