Bank of Palestine signs an agreement to support the activities of El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe

Bank of Palestine signed an agreement to support the activities of El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup for the next two years; the agreement was signed in Palestine’s General Management Head Office in Ramallah, in the presence of Mr. Hashim Shawa, Bank of Palestine’s Chairman and General Manager, and Mr. Jamal Hadad, El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup’s Deputy Chairman, and with participation of a number of Board of Directors’ members from Bank of Palestine and El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup, in addition to a group of officials and Section Heads from both sides.

Under the agreement, the Bank will provide a financial donation in the value of 40 thousand dollars to El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup over the course of two years to support the activities of the assembly, which was able to expand for the past 36 years and reach all Palestinian areas by establishing and supporting art groups and it was able to culminate its work by participating in various local and international events and festivals.

 Mr. Hashim Shawa welcomed the attendees, expressing his contentment with this cultural agreement with El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup, indicating that the Troup positively represents the Palestinian identity. Shawa added that the Palestinian culture is one of the main engines that directs the national compass towards Palestine, accordingly, the Bank realizes the importance of supporting the components, events, cultural activities and institutions it is based on. Shawa confirmed that Bank of Palestine dedicates a part of its social responsibility’s budget to support culture and to enhance the Palestinian identity and promote it internationally.

Mr. Jamal Hadad, El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup’s Deputy Chairman, expressed his pride with this agreement, which confirms the role of the private sector in social responsibility towards an important sector that contributes in maintaining the Palestinian culture; Hadad thanked and expressed his appreciation to Bank of Palestine, represented by its General Manager, Mr. Hashim Shawa, for the continuous support and efforts to the Troup and to the cultural activities in Palestine.

Haddad added that the Palestinian popular folklore and the cultural heritage are pillars of the Palestinian identity, accordingly, “El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troup” was established to inspire the humane artistic heritage in general and the Arab Palestinian heritage in particular, building a modern folk art group that makes a change in humans and society through beautiful practice of art.
