BOP, Nablus Municipality and Welfare Association inaugurated Tuesday 28 October 2014 the 13th Al-Bayyara playground in Ma’ajeen Neighborhood in Nablus. Al-Bayyara is a mega project carried out by BOP and aims to establish safe playgrounds for children in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nablus Deputy Governor Anan Al-Athira, BOP Assistant General Manager Hani Nasser, Nablus Municipal Council Member Youssef Al-Jabi, Nablus Local Government Director Sami Dawabsheh, Northern Area Director Nasser Bakir, Head of Al-Ma’aeen Neighborhood Committee, Ismail Al-Ahqar, and Head of BOP PR and Marketing Division Thaer Hamayel, in addition to representatives from security organs and media.
The inauguration of the new playground was made possible through partnership with several organizations including Welfare Association, Mona & Bassem Hishmeh, George & Ronda Salem, with contribution from Nablus Municipality that has donated the land for the establishment of the playground. BOP has inaugurated ten playgrounds for children in different parts of Palestine.
Nablus Deputy Governor Anan Al-Athira welcomed the attendees and extended her gratitude to BOP extolling at the same time the Bank’s concern with development projects. She also lauded the efforts made by Nablus Municipality and other organization in Nablus Governorate that are actively involved in community development. Al-Athira said Nablus Governorate has started to prepare list of the needs of the governorate as part of its annual plan. She made clear that public facilities are among the needs of Nablus community especially in order to protect children and provide them with safe outdoor playgrounds.
Dima Irshid from Welfare Association extended gratitude to the institutions that have supported Al-Bayara Project, which is being implemented by BOP and Welfare Association with the view of creating safe recreational facilities for children and increasing the green areas. Irshid also thanked Nablus Municipality for its efforts in the creation of the playground.
BOP Assistant Deputy Manager Hani Nasser stated Al-Bayyara Project is a unique BOP initiative that aims to develop a community project that provides sustainable services including services for children. Nasser added that BOP is main part of national institutions that contribute to community development and growth toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem its eternal capital.
Head of Al-Ma’ajeen Neighborhood Committee Ismail Al-Ashqar lauded the valuable role played by BOP and other organizations operating in Nablus. He stressed the playground will remain an important part of Nablus community especially children and families residing in Al-Ma’ajeen.
Al-Jabi, member of Nablus Municipal Council presented a list of projects Nablus Municipality is implementing. He added Al-Bayyara playground is part of the municipality’s strategy to help create recreational facilities for the local community. He thanked BOP and Welfare Association for the gracious efforts.
Al-Bayyara Project is a national project initiated by BOP in partnership with Welfare Association, ANERA, Mona & Bassem Hishmeh, George & Ronda Salem who are Palestinian expatriates seeking to build hundreds of recreational facilities for children.
