Bank of Palestine Introduces ATM System Run by Solar Energy

BOP has introduced a new system to operate ATMs in the Gaza Strip by way of generating electrical power from solar energy. The system will contribute to finding solutions to the long term and continuous cut off of electricity in the strip caused by the latest Israel military offensive.

The system has been implemented and operated in four BOP ATMs in Rafah, Deir Al-Balah, Main Branch and Al-Nasr Branch in the Gaza Strip. During the next few days, BOP will complete the operation of all the ATMs numbering thirty. The system will ensure continuity in the work of ATMs 24/7 and as a result BOP will continue to provide the best possible services to its customers that meet all their financial needs. BOP has developed a plan to provide tens of easily accessible ATMs in the Gaza Strip and provide banking services to customers in all places.

Moreover, BOP seeks to expand the application of the new service system to include BOP ATMs in the West Bank in order to affirm its contribution to the preservation of the environment and providing the best services to customers. BOP owns the largest ATM network in Palestine numbering 120 ATMs distributed throughout the Palestine. The new system is environment friendly and uses renewable energy sources.

Furthermore, BOP has developed a sustainable strategy for funding a set of environment friendly projects that uses alternative natural energy sources, including the Green Loans Program and other programs implemented in cooperation with NGOs within the framework of BOP’s corporate social responsibility.

Noteworthy is that BOP has recently introduced the cash and cheque deposit service on its ATMs thus expanding its e-banking services. BOP spares no effort to develop and improve its e-banking services and keep up with the latest development in this aspect worldwide.
