BOP has launched a cooperative training program called “Specialized Banker” for Palestinian university students majoring in banking and financial sciences. The program aims to upgrade the practical and applicable capabilities and potentials of university students and fulfill the needs of the banking market. The program also seeks to train students for professional employment in Palestinian banks.
This is the first program of its kind in Palestine that targets senior university students who look for excellence and self-development before entering the labor market. BOP has initiated the “Specialized Banker” program early this month in partnership with the Islamic University in Gaza. Twenty male and female students will take part in the program that consists of 100 training hours 60 of which will take place in university halls and 40 in practical training halls (pilot banking branch) at BOP Training Center. Students will be trained on concluding banking transactions through engaging in virtual programs that encompasses all the services provided by BOP and Palestinian banks including loan applications for granting facilities to firms and individuals, money transfers all over the world, letters of credit, checkbooks, and other services students completing this program will be able to carry out.
Soon BOP will sign MoUs with Palestinian universities in order provide the program to the largest number of students possible. The program will augment the efforts of universities, students and banks in order to graduate students capable of assimilating information, carry out procedures and apply different banking and financial principles ion their work. In turn, this will strengthen and develop the banking sector.
BOP trainers specialized in banking rehabilitation, management, services and products are providing the training, which includes practical exercises on programs used by Palestinian banks.
At the end of the program, trainees will sit for a comprehensive examination in BOP Training Center and passing students will be awarded a “Specialized Banker” certificate. More activities for the “Specialized Banker” program will be carried in West Bank and Gaza universities next August following its completion in Gaza Islamic University.
