Bank of Palestine – UNRWA Distribute 3700 Food Baskets to Yarmouk Camp

Aiming to alleviate the humanitarian crisis that resulted in the death, malnutrition and deterioration of the health of dozens of children in Yarmouk refugee camp, Bank of Palestine has distributed through the UNRWA 3709 food baskets to besieged families in the camp.

Bank of Palestine continues its relief operations aiming to rescue Palestinian refugees in Yarmouk camp and meet their immediate basic needs. The baskets contained basic food items for children and family members including fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, Bank of Palestine in cooperation with UNRWA has provided vitamins and dietary supplements for children as well as maternity requisites. Thousands of Palestinian children in the camp suffer from diseases linked to malnutrition and protein deficiency. In fact, according to UNRWA, dozens of Palestinian children and elderly in Yarmouk camp died of hunger.

Palestinian territories UNRWA Representative Mr Lionello Boscardi extolled Bank of Palestine’s role in alleviating the humanitarian crisis of Palestinian refugees in Yarmouk camp south of Damascus city in Syria. He expressed delight for UNRWA’s relief operations in the camp.

Early last month Bank of Palestine donated USD 100,000 with the generous contribution of its staff to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yarmouk refugee camp. As a national bank with a vision for social, developmental and humanitarian vision, Bank of Palestine is keen to continue relief operations, support social projects and services, strengthen social ties and charity work.
