Bank of Palestine Signs MoU with Welfare Association to Renovate Damaged Homes in Gaza for USD 100,000

Bank of Palestine and Welfare Association have signed an MoU to renovate damaged homes in Gaza that have been affected by the recent snowstorm. This initiative aims to alleviate the humanitarian crisis if families who were compelled to leave their homes and seek refuge in schools and other locations.

The MoU was signed during a special ceremony held at Bank of Palestine head office in Ramallah by Bank of Palestine Chairman of the Board and General Manager Mr Hashim Al-Shawa and Welfare Association General Manager Dr Tafida Al-Jarbawi. The ceremony was also attended by Bank of Palestine Vice Chairman and Assistants and Welfare Association senior officials.

As per the MoU, Bank of Palestine will donate USD 100,000 to finance the project which will be implemented by Welfare Association. About 88 houses will be renovated in the next few weeks.

Moreover, Bank of Palestine staff in Gaza, in cooperation with relief organizations, will help out in the renovation process and the relief of families and children in distressed areas.

Al-Shawa said this initiative reflects Bank of Palestine’s commitment to social responsibility. It is a clear indication of the bank’s support to Palestinians in Gaza who are suffering due to the military siege and difficult economic conditions. Our people in Gaza must have a decent and dignified life, Al-Shawa concluded.
