Bank of Palestine and Welfare Association Launch Zamala Program for Academic and Professional Development in Al-Quds University

Bank of Palestine, in partnership with Welfare Association, signed an agreement to launch Zamala Program for Academic and Professional Development with Al-Quds University, Abu Dis. The program is financed by Bank of Palestine and carried out by Welfare Association in partnership with Palestinian universities.

Earlier, Bank of Palestine, Welfare Association and Al-Quds University have signed an MoU whereby Bank of Palestine would sponsor the program while Welfare Association would manage and follow it up as well as assess its phases and mobilize funds to support it. For its part, Al-Quds University would announce the program and encourage its faculty and staff to join and benefit from it. The program targets full time teachers in the university who will be granted one to six months scholarships to conduct research in different disciplines including financial and banking sciences, ICT, health and medicine, environment and agriculture, engineering, law, life sciences and others. Teachers will also have the opportunity to go on training visits for one or two semesters.

Zamala Program for Academic and Professional Development aims to enhance and develop university education in Palestine in order to be able to cope with the rapid developments in the areas of business, technology and others. It also aims to improve the quality of higher education and teaching methodologies. Zamala is considered an important professional development program that aims to upgrade university education efficiency in Palestine by way of promoting and enhancing university teachers’ and lecturers’ expertise in all areas.

Bank of Palestine has contributed with more than USD 2m to support Zamala Program for the past five years. The program is being implemented in ten Palestinian universities.
