In a significant economic ceremony, Bank of Palestine celebrated the inauguration of its new branch in Jericho district Sunday 8 December 2013 in the presence of PM Rami Hamdallah, PMA Governor Jihad Al-Wazir, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Bank of Palestine Mr Hashim Al-Shawa, and senior Palestinian businessmen/women, Jericho district mayors, PLC members, heads of boards of directors, bank and financial institution managers, managers of private sector companies and government and civil society representatives. The inauguration was also attended by Bank of Palestinian Board members, deputies and assistants to the General Manager, area and department directors as well as bank of Palestine employees and media representatives.
With the opening of its branch in Jericho district, Bank of Palestine maintains a network of 48 branches and offices distributed in all Palestinian cities and villages from Jenin in the north to Rafah in the south. Bank of Palestine branches and offices provide all kinds of banking and financial services to customers and the public efficiently and with high quality.
The inauguration activities included ribbon cutting, a tour in the new premises and a special opening ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Jericho.
In his opening speech, Mr Al-Shawa said the new premises are not merely a branch to provide services to the public, but they have been specially designed to provide companies, merchants and individual with quality services. In addition, the premises house training rooms used to train employees of the bank and provide customers with awareness and practical skills building workshops, especially for merchants and SME owners in order to help them develop their operations. The training rooms will also be used by local community organizations in order to establish true partnership between the bank and the local community.
For his part, PMA Governor Mr Jihad Al-Wazir expressed delight for the opening of the new Bank of Palestine branch extolling the achievements of the bank during the past years. Mr Al-Wazir stressed the fact that Bank of Palestine has distinguished itself in economic and social development, and has provided work opportunities for more than 1200 male and female employees out of a total of 5264 employees working in the banking sector.
