Bank of Palestine supported and sponsored Startup Weekend Palestine 2013 Technological Exhibition held in Ramallah and organized by Qiyadat Foundation. Part of FastForward mentorship-driven startup accelerator, the exhibition was attended by an assembly of economists, businessmen/women, executive directors of Palestinian organizations, public sector and civil society institutions, in addition to dozens of young entrepreneurs and Palestinian ICT representatives.
The mini Startup Weekend is one of the most important technological activities sponsored by Bank of Palestine. Startup Weekend is a registered not-for-profit organization that organizes 54-hour weekend events during which groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more pitch ideas for new startup companies. Graduates from Palestinian universities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip take part in Startup Weekend and present their entrepreneurial initiatives in front of a committee of specialized referees and reputed Palestinian companies. Startup Weekend is a global activity that takes place in more than 150 countries significantly contributing to and strengthening the ecosystem in Palestine, keeping abreast of the rapid changes and development worldwide and bringing it to the Palestinian market.
Startup Weekend coincides with the Global Week for Youth Entrepreneurship and with the Bank of Palestine sponsorship of Celebration of Innovation that will be launched next week by Palestine for a New Beginning. Celebration of Innovation is a national competition in which young entrepreneurs from the West Bank and Gaza Strip pitch their business ideas in the areas of economy, society, culture and others.
