Al-Bayyara Playgrounds Project Collects USD 40,000 on Palestine Culture Day in San Francisco

This year the 35th session of Palestine Culture Day was held in San Francisco. The event was organized by Palestinian expatriate institutions and individuals in cooperation with Palestinian Organizations Group and attended by San Francisco Mayor Mr Edward Lee and other officials. Donations were collected for carrying out development projects in Palestine and the event was declared a Palestine Culture Day by San Francisco Municipality.

During the event titled ‘Building Bridges’ held on the 22nd of last September, about USD 40,000 have been collected and allocated to Al-Bayyara Playgrounds Project the implementation of which Bank of Palestine initiated last year. The event included several Palestinian cultural and heritage activities that reflected the authenticity of Palestine and its history. In addition to a Palestinian traditional dress fashion show, there were comedy presentations and performance of traditional Palestinian music.

Al-Bayyara Project initiated by Bank of Palestine is one of the most significant Palestinian projects. The project aims to construct hundreds of recreational playgrounds for children in different parts of the Palestinian districts and in rural areas. In addition, the project, which is being carried out by Bank of Palestine in partnership with Not-for-Profit Palestinian Organizations and Expatriates (Welfare Association, ANERA, Muna and Bassem Hishmeh, George and Ronda Salem) aims to provide children with safe playgrounds and recreational facilities, increase green areas, reduce number of injuries and victims among children resulting from playing on roads and congested alleys, and create work opportunities in areas where new playgrounds are established.
