Bank of Palestine offered exclusive sponsorship to host Group D matches of the Women’s Asian Cup qualification that will be played in Palestine. The Group includes the national football teams of Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, India and Palestine. This is the first international tournament in the first round to be hosted by Palestine and the winner will qualify for the finals taking place next year.
The Asian Women Football Championship opened with a round of matches on 21 May 2013 and went on until 25 May 2013. Organized by the Palestinian Football Federation, the matches took place in Faisal Husseini Stadium north of Jerusalem.
The technical meeting and the press conference on the opening match that brought together the national teams of Chinese Taipei and Palestine were held one day before the match at the Movenpick Hotel in Ramallah. The four teams participating in the tournament were received by the Palestinian Football Federation and Bank of Palestine in its capacity as the sponsor of the championship.
Bank of Palestine sponsorship of the football championship is part of its tireless efforts to develop Palestinian sports, place Palestine on the world map of sports, change the stereotypical image of Palestine in the world, and enable the Federation to promote the name of Palestine worldwide. In addition, this sponsorship confirms Bank of Palestine’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. In fact, the Bank has allocated 5% of its net profit to support social sectors and a good amount of the allocation goes to sports.
