As part of Bank of Palestine’s sports clubs championship in Gaza and the West Bank, Al-Bara’em Football Championship kicked off in Gaza. With this championship, BoP aims at establishing a national football team from highly skilled players from both genders and age groups, which will be able to represent Palestine in the international arena.
Wael Al Sorani, General Manager Assistant for the Gaza Strip Branches, stated that Al-Bara’em championship event is the first of its kind in Palestine and the Arab World and was initiated out of BoP’s firm belief in the importance of sports and athletics, especially for young children. BoP has been a leader in supporting sports activities in Palestine, such as funding sport clubs, women football, swimming competitions, horseback riding competitions. BoP has also sponsored several Palestinian teams who were qualified for international participation, including Palestine’s Olympics team in London 2012. With this and more, BoP was named as the largest contributor to CSR among Palestinian Banks in 2011.
