BoP was the platinum sponsor for the Aid and Hope Program for Cancer Patients Care breast cancer awareness campaign, “Gaza: think in Pink” in Gaza.
In addition to several awareness events organized within the campaign, the program made the longest pink ribbon in the world (1274 m) thus breaking the Guinness Record. The cloth ribbon was made on Gaza’s beach and was enhanced with hundreds of volunteers, including Bank of Palestine’s employees. This initiative aimed at drawing attention to this important cause among women around the world, but especially in Palestine. The campaign calls on women to get early scanning and diagnosis, which, if done on time, can lead to full recovery.
Eman Shannan, general director of the program and a survivor of the disease, thanked BoP for its valuable contribution to the program and to the campaign, which she stated was launched this month to celebrate Pink October- Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Shannan further stated that there are 11,000 cancer patients in Gaza, and that 53% of them are breast cancer patients.
