Bank of Palestine hosted a workshop on increasing Palestinian homebuyers' awareness in cooperation with CHF International.
BoP hosted a workshop for the Palestinian Homebuyer Education Program (PHEP), a CHF International program with funding from the Department for International Development (DFID). The workshop aims to enhance and improve the capacity of Palestinian families, and will make them better borrowers and more responsible house owners.
In addition to BoP, the workshop was attended by representatives from the Palestine Capital Market Authority, the Palestinian Monetary Authority, in addition to all other banks in Palestine and a number of private and public sector representatives. The attendees discussed the most important topics regarding homebuyers in Palestine, as part of an 18-month awareness campaign which will target potential homebuyers in the West Bank. By using an array of media outlets, the campaign will address important topics related to buying and owning housing, with a focus on cases where the homebuyer can take a wrong decision due to a lack of the mortgage process.
Donna Stefano, the program director, presented the objectives and components of the program and the awareness campaign plan, which is intended to be launched in April. Ashraf Zain, the program's mortgage expert, presented the main stages in homeownership process and the main messages that must be included in the campaign. At the end of the workshop, the attendees were divided into working groups to identify the most important campaign messages, which were later voted on by the audience.
