Bank of Palestine celebrated the opening of its new sub-branch at Birzeit University with the presence of Mr. Hashim Shawa, Chairman and General Manager of BoP, Dr. Nabil Kassis, President of Birzeit University, Mr. Riyad Shehada, and Head of Banking Inspection Department at the PMA along with members of the Board of Directors of the university.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Kassis said that the opening of this sub-branch will serve about 9000 people of the staff and students of the university. He thanked the Bank for taking this initiative, which serves the trends and plans of the university that aims to establish a number of projects and small commercial facilities inside the university campus.
Mr. Shawa assured that opening this new branch inside the university campus reflects the Bank’s interest in supporting education and providing banking services for all Palestinian categories.
At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Shawa gave a brief presentation about the Bank and about the Palestinian Student Loan Program, which will enable 8,000 students with a total value of USD 10 million per annum to benefit from these revolving loans for paying tuition fees with maturities ranging between 8 and 9 years. These loans will ease the financial burden on the shoulders of the Palestinian families that are not capable of paying the university fees and help students continue their higher education studies.
