Mr. Hashim Al Shawa, the Chairman of Bank of Palestine Group, announced the launch of a massive campaign entitled “Palestine in our hearts… together we give and together we build,” to raise support and donations for the relief of our people who have been affected by the recent aggression on Palestine. Al Shawa pointed out that the Group will mobilize all its capabilities, contacts, media and communication channels, and electronic and banking platforms to receive donations from citizens, customers and expatriates.

Al Shawa stated that the Group will make great efforts through its network of international and Arab contacts to mobilize support and funds in order to provide everything possible for the relief of people who have been affected by the recent aggression, especially the recent war on the Gaza Strip. The Group will also support emergency relief operations for our people in Palestine, and particularly in the Gaza Strip. Al Shawa revealed that the Group has actually commenced the relief operations in shelters last Thursday, whereby its team of volunteers, from BoP employees, distributed large amounts of fresh water and drinking water in shelters that were set up in 59 schools and include 70,000 displaced persons who fled their demolished homes. Al Shawa expressed his sadness towards the innocent human losses from children, women and the elderly, who were victims of this aggression. He called for mercy upon the martyrs and prayed for the health and healing of the injured and for “the recovery, freedom and independence of our nation.”

According to Al Shawa, “the efforts exerted by Bank of Palestine Group to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Palestine will not be restricted to financial donations from the Group, but will also include efforts to mobilize additional financial resources from local, international and Arab partners, to relief those effects and ontribute to the alleviation of material and moral damages that were inflicted on all aspects of economic and social life across the nation, including in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, to contribute to the success of humanitarian efforts and allow the Gaza Strip to rise once again.”

Al Shawa stated: “the campaign stems from our humanitarian and national values and our leading and social role towards our people all over Palestine as part of a comprehensive program, in partnership with a group of local organizations, such as the Welfare Association, and international organizations operating on the ground, such as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and Global Communities, whereby mechanisms will be designed and developed to respond to the needs of our people in all areas, support them during these difficult circumstances, and secure all the funding needed in partnership with the aforementioned organizations.”

A special bank account has been set up to receive donations from within and outside Palestine. Al Shawa stressed that the Group’s electronic banking channels, such as the Banki application,

internet banking for companies and individuals, the Arabic Islamic Bank’s mobile application, PalPay’s electronic wallet “Mehfazty”, points of sale and AMTs are now ready to receive donations, whereby customers and citizens alike are able to support our people through the campaign.

Al Shawa called upon Palestinians to donate through the different available channels, stressing the importance of all the people standing together as a nation during these difficult circumstances.
