Bank of Palestine donates one million dollars to contribute towards building Khaled Hasan Hospital for Cancer Treatment and Bone Marrow Transplantation

Mr. Hashim Shawa, Chairman and General Manager of Bank of Palestine, announced the Bank’s donation in the value of USD 1,000,000 to contribute towards building Khaled Hasan Hospital for Cancer Treatment and Bone Marrow Transplantation in Palestine. He indicated that the Bank continues to be the leader in contributions towards building, establishing and implementing development projects in Palestine, especially that this project will be the nucleus of developments within the Palestinian health sector, and cancer treatment in the Middle East.

Shawa added that Khaled Hasan Hospital, an initiative from the President Mahmoud Abbas “Abu Mazen”, is the one of the most important projects presently implemented, and will create a modern and sophisticated center in Palestine for cancer treatment and bone marrow transplantation, especially that about 60% of death causes is cancer, the second death cause in Palestine. He added that the number of cancer cases are expected to increase by 70% in the upcoming two decades. Moreover, this project will contribute to the settlement of cancer treatment in Palestine, and will alleviate the costs incurred by the Palestinian patients who travel to receive treatment abroad. In addition to its contribution in reducing the external referrals expenses for the Ministry of Health, in which these expenses can be used towards developmental areas within the Palestinian health sector. He confirmed that this project has an urgent priority for the Palestinian people.

Shawa expressed his contentment that Bank of Palestine is one of the first institutions to donate for such a project, and his pride in the creation of Khaled Hasan Hospital, which is named after one of the Palestinian symbols.

Shawa added that this donation is due to the Bank’s social responsibility, in which the Bank continued to develop and implement within clear vision towards our society. He indicated that the Bank dedicates 6% of its annual net profit towards development and social responsibility programs, including all development sectors, most importantly, health, education, youth and innovation, culture and art, sports, humanitarian endeavors, economic development and Diaspora affairs, and women empowerment.

Bank of Palestine opened an account to collect and receive donations towards building the hospital, under the name Khaled Hassan Hospital for Cancer Treatment, number 2221222, Ramallah Branch, in which donations can be received from citizens and customers to the mentioned account in all currencies (NIS, JD, USD).
