Bank of Palestine, Dunya Women Cancer Centre, and Aid & Hope Program (AHP) For Cancer Patients Care launch an awareness campaign for early diagnosis of breast cancer

 

Bank of Palestine in cooperation with Dunya Women Cancer Centre in Ramallah, and Aid & Hope Program (AHP) For Cancer Patients Care in Gaza launched a significant campaign for early detection of breast cancer. This campaign came along with the annual Global Campaign for fighting against Breast Cancer. The campaign included media coverage, posters, and the streets of Palestine were adorned with Pink (The Global Campaign Slogan).


In this context, Bank of Palestine will cover the expenses of 200 examination divided on social cases from governorates in the West Bank and Gaza, in cooperation with the above mentioned organizations. Besides that, the Bank will make events and awareness activities for its female employees for an early detection of the disease, since early detection can raise the recovery rate to 98%.


The Medical Director of Dunya Centre Dr. Nofouz Maslamani said that; pink stickers were distributed in streets and public places, a series of media events were organized, in addition to a number of lectures and awareness-meetings are planned throughout the month in clinics, women and public institutions, universities, colleges, schools, in cooperation with centres of Health Work Committees and Women’s health programme in north, south, and center of West Bank.


Dr. Maslamani said that 70% of the cases can be detected by women themselves through a periodic monthly self-examination; she also indicated that 80% of the breast tumors are benign tumors, therefore, all women are recommended to begin with a self-examination followed by an annual diagnosis through mammogram and ultrasound, especially for women above 40 years old.


On his part, Head of the Marketing and Public Relations Department in BOP Mr. Thaer Hamayel indicated that this campaign asserts BOP’s attention of Palestinian women who represent half of the society. Within its social responsibility and besides supporting youth& childhood, sports, humanitarian, educational, developmental, cultural, and social sectors; Bank of Palestine singled out part of its budged to women affairs.


On her part, the director of Aid & Hope Program (AHP) For Cancer Patients Care, Mrs. Eman Shann, stressed on the Bank’s efforts in Gaza; indicating that this campaign which was sponsored by the Bank, is one of the largest campaigns in the Arab world.
