Bank of Palestine Sponsors Palestine Youth Orchestra Musical Concerts in Bethlehem, Nablus and Ramallah

Sponsored by Bank of Palestine, Palestine Youth Orchestra concluded three musical concerts in the districts of Bethlehem, Ramallah and Nablus. The orchestra has also performed in the Jordanian capital of Amman during the past few days.

The concerts have been organized in commemoration of Member of the Supervisory Board of Edward Said National Music Conservatory the late Dr Gabi Baramki. The Conservatory aims to bring together young Palestinian musicians in the territories and diaspora, and provide them with opportunities to meet and exchange expertise. It also seeks to create a Palestinian national project that reflects a bright and civilized image of Palestinian youth and their talents.

Conducted by the internationally renowned maestro Sean Edwards, the orchestra played  a repertoire of classical and western music, complex and virtuosic. Verdi’s Opera Aida had a strong, lively Arab spirit that put listeners on the edge of their seats. Other repertoire performed by the orchestra included the Palestinian composer Salvador Arneeta’s Introduction to Oriental Dance.

Interested in Palestinian art and culture development, Bank of Palestine has sponsored concerts for Palestine youth Orchestra for three years in a row. The inception of the first Palestinian national youth musical orchestra is a remarkable accomplishment to streamline Palestinian culture and disseminate Palestinian music in many countries of the world. Investment in the music sector will contribute to overall national cultural development and lead Palestine into expansive horizons both on the local and global levels.
