On Monday, 8 April 2013 Bank of Palestine celebrated the conclusion of Bank of Palestine Children Football Championship in Majed Asad Spots Court and Hall in Al-Bireh City. The celebration took place after the final match between Qalqilya children team and Ramallah children team. The match ended in penalty kicks with Ramallah team achieving first place and Qalqilya team second place.
For his part, Bank of Palestine representative Mr Rushdi Ghalayini honored the members of the Palestinian national football team and representatives from the Palestine Football Federation and Ministry of Education honored the team of children and granted USD 100 to each child in the team.
During the honoring ceremony, the Palestine Football Federation honored Bank of Palestine for its efforts in supporting the Palestinian sports sector. Likewise, the Federation also honored the Ministry of Education for its efforts during the championship.
The Palestinian Children Championship constituted one of the most important pilot projects in Palestine aiming to explore talented children create a strong national men and women football teams for Palestine and prepare them to represent Palestine in international competitions mainly the World Cup Championship in Qatar in 2022. The project resulted in the formation of a women national team for Palestine which participated in several international matches and beat the national teams of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain in the second round of West Asia tournament that took place in Doha, Qatar, ending second place.
