Given the importance of the role of economic and social connections between Palestinians living inside Palestine and in the Diaspora, this year, Bank of Palestine is exclusively sponsoring Club Deportivo Palestino in Chile.
Bank of Palestine also sponsored the Club in the year 2010 when the team members, coaches and president visited Palestine. Their visit included visits to economic, educational and sports institutions, and of course as a main reason for their visit games with local football teams and clubs in addition to a game with Al Wehdat Jordanian Club. Club Deportivo Palestino, founded in 1920 by a group of Palestinian immigrants is a professional football club based in the city of Santiago, Chile. . The name of the club reflects the Palestinian origins of the club (http://www.facebook.com/palestino1920).
BoP's sponsorship of the Palestino Club coincides with its efforts to strengthen relations with Palestinians in the Diaspora.Being the first and the largest national bank in Palestine, Bank of Palestine aims to expand to markets beyond Palestine. The plan includes opening a representative office in Santiago since Chile has the largest number of Palestinians outside the Middle East- about half a million. Chile also has a regulated and stable economy. BoP's Diaspora offices will meet a pent-up demand of the Palestinian Diaspora community.
