Bank of Palestine donates $120,000 for the Premier Football League in Gaza

Bank of Palestine (BoP) signed an agreement with the Palestinian Football Association to fund the twelve Premier League football clubs in the southern governorates in the Gaza Strip with $120,000. The signing of the agreement took place on December 12, 2011 at the BoP’s headquarters in Gaza City and was attended by members of the Board of Directors and executive management of the bank, as well as representatives from the sports sector in Gaza.

In his speech, Alaa Al-Redwan, Deputy General Manager stated that Bank of Palestine has dedicated a large part of its social responsibility initiatives to sports, including football tournaments, women’s football, swimming, horseback riding, and international competitions with Palestinian teams participating.

Redwan further expressed that funding the Premier League is part of Bank of Palestine's vision to lead the way in promoting and supporting different sport activities. This contribution is one of several reasons that Bank of Palestine won first place as the largest contributor to Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) projects among Palestinian banks in 2011. BoP has contributed $1.5 million to CSR in 2010 alone, which is equivalent to 5% of the bank’s net profit.
