Mr. Hashim Shawa, Chairman and General Manger, and Dr. Jihad Issaq, Chairman of Green Palestine signed the agreement. The agreement defines clearly the mutual cooperation between both parties to launch Green loan program in Palestine.
Bank of Palestine will grant loans to activities which contribute to self reliance. The availability of drinking water will be supported by granting loans to build water wells and wastewater treatment systems to get water for irrigation. Moreover, alternative energy source will be generated to supply home electricity. All these activities will save a borrower’s money by reducing his / her electricity and water bills. Green Palestine company will implement these activities due to its experience and knowledge especially, home water purification system.
Mr. Hashim Shawa appraised this agreement which is considered the first of its kind in Palestine and the Middle East. Mr. Shawa stated that this agreement will support the development of the economy by preserving the limited natural resources in the region, participating on protecting the environment, and dispensing the need to import energy from abroad. Mr. Shawa clarified that this agreement is part of Bank of Palestine celebration of its Golden Jubilee under the slogan 50 years of Building. This shows the active role that Bank of Palestine plays in the development of the economy since its establishment.
