Bank of Palestine implements several banking awareness workshops for mothers of orphans as part of Wajd Program for orphans of the latest assault on the Gaza Strip

Bank of Palestine implemented an awareness workshop specialized in financial and banking services for mother of orphans of the latest assault on the Gaza Strip. The series of workshops is part of the Wajd Program for orphans, which was launched by the Welfare Association and the Qatar Development Fund, the main program donor, together with a contribution from Bank of Palestine and Al Haj Hashim Ata Al Shawa Charitable Fund, to support orphans in many fields including, health, education and training. The workshop is organized along the lines of the Felestineya Program, which is implemented by the bank to spread awareness among Palestinian women on financial and banking services. It was attended by more than 50 women beneficiaries of the Wajd Program, whereby the workshop featured information about the many and different banking concepts, focusing on services provided by the bank to women, at both the personal and business levels.

This workshop is part of a series of workshops implemented by Bank of Palestine for women beneficiaries of the Wajd Program in the Gaza Strip. It is also part of the bank’s continuous efforts to develop and expand banking services to meet the needs of these women, through a comprehensive system and strategy, with an aim to achieve the highest degrees of financial inclusion and sustainability.  Bank of Palestine commenced with the implementation of its plan through the establishment of the very first department in the history of banks operating in Palestine, specialized in financial inclusion. The bank also strives to implement a variety of programs that seek to empower Palestinian women and support the development process, by creating products and programs that respond to the needs of all sectors in society, through the largest banking network in Palestine, consisting of 76 branches and offices spread across the Palestinian territories, and over 164 ATMs that serve more than 800,000 customers.

Bank of Palestine was among the very first banks to initiate the launch of programs that aim to empower Palestinian women. The Felestineya Program is a comprehensive initiative that supports women and responds to their needs for banking services and non-financial consultations. The program succeeded in developing the capacities of women in managing different projects through the Mini MBA program, and giving them further incentive by launching the Best Business Plan for Women Competition. It also provided women with other financing tools that respond to their financial and banking needs through the development of a series of credit facilitations that assist them in starting their own projects.   

It is worth mention that Bank of Palestine implemented over 450 workshops since 2014, benefiting over 10,000 participants, and assisted many in starting their own developmental projects.
